Yale University SCL Infrastructure Improvements

Loureiro Contractors Inc. (LCI) performed site and concrete work for a major upgrade of the electrical service to the Yale Sterling Chemistry Laboratory (SCL) Building. Specific items of work included traffic control measures; erosion control; mass rock and earth excavation; concrete encased electric duct bank; cast-in-place concrete electrical vault including permanent site drainage piping; installation of a temporary retaining wall; concrete foundations, footings, walls, slabs, roof and parapet walls, and temporary site restoration.


  • Earth was removed and reused on site as backfill.
  • Participated in all on-site coordination meetings including safety reviews.
  • Designed and installed a tree protection system.
  • The concrete electrical vaule was 28 feet wide by 70 feet long by 14 feet high.
  • The project was completed on-schedule and within budget.
