PCB/Asbestos Caulk Removal plus Associated Transportation & Disposal

The Facility Services division of Loureiro was contacted by a local construction company to remediate PCB & asbestos contaminated caulk and PCB contaminated window glazing from a grammar school in Southington, CT. The project involved training asbestos removal personnel in PCB Awareness, while drafting Health & Safety Plans and Work Plans in accordance with EPA Region I PCB remediation guidelines. Industrial Solutions personnel were assigned to prepare the outside of the building for asbestos containment. After windows and doors were removed by the asbestos contractor, they also encapsulated concrete block, where the windows and doors were located, also recaulking doorways, to prevent additional PCB migration. PCB soil was also removed by LCI personnel outside of two sides of the building in 4” increments as directed by the on-site consultant. Approximately 25 tons were removed and transported to landfill.
