Services: Investigation, Multi-Media Due Diligence Assessment, Redevelopment Planning
Client Served: Real Estate Development

Loureiro provided environmental assessment and consulting support to a real estate development company completing the redevelopment and renovation of a large school building in Albany, New York. The project involved identification and evaluation of Areas of Concern and Recognized Environmental Conditions per ASTM Standards. The project involved collection and analysis of soil, groundwater and building materials in order to understand implications and to develop alternatives to address known or suspected contaminants.

As a result of the investigations, Loureiro provided recommendations to address an area of filled land, an area of soil contamination associated with closed storage tanks, and the presence of several transformers and drums that were left on the property. In anticipation of the change of use to long-term residences, Loureiro assisted the client in the design of a ventilation system to mitigate potential soil vapor and radon migration into upper-story residential units.

Loureiro performed and oversaw all fieldwork and obtained approvals and permits from local, state and federal regulatory agencies as appropriate. All activities were completed in accordance with NYSDEC guidance and regulations.
