Solid Waste Permit Application for  Facility Redevelopment

Southington, Connecticut

Services: Solid Waste, Site and Facilities
Clients Served: Industrial

Loureiro provided assistance with the preparation and processing of state and local permits for the redevelopment of a former industrial area to volume reduction facilities. Based upon the timing associated with the individual solid waste facility permitting through the DEEP, Loureiro prepared an application for a General Permit to Construct and Operate Certain Recycling Facilities to quickly allow clean wood processing at the facility. Simultaneously, Loureiro prepared a comprehensive permit application for an individual permit for construction and operation of a solid waste facility. This application included expanding the capacity of the clean wood processing facility and adding an anaerobic digestion facility, which receives food scraps and processes them within a reactor to accelerate the digestion process and produce biogas and compost. The biogas is used to generateelectrical power through an on-site combined heat and power (CHP) unit. Loureiro also prepared permit application packages to support the site planning requirements through the town and the related storm water requirements through the DEEP.
