Ammonia Test Facility, Fire Protection System Extension

Windsor Locks, Connecticut

Services: Fire Protection Engineering
Clients Served: Industrial

This design consisted of layout and extension of the existing wet sprinkler fire protection system to serve the new addition to the existing ammonia test facility. The area consists of an existing 300 sq ft control room, and a 450 sq ft utility room adjacent to the 500 sq ft test cell. The new 400 sq ft addition, located near the middle of this complex, is served by an extension of the existing fire protection system.

The existing fire protection system was modeled hydraulically. The fire protection extension was then designed into the existing system. The revised system was then hydraulically modeled to verify adequate sprinkler coverage for the combined new and existing areas. Drawings and specifications were prepared for submission to the building officials for permit approval.
