Power S80 Test Stands

This design consisted of layout, analysis and extension of the existing wet sprinkler fire protection system to serve the renovated test facility.

The area consists of an existing 10,000 sq. ft. test area in which three new test stands were to be installed. The test stands each included a 275 sq ft canopy hood as part of the test stand enclosure. Additional sprinklers were required at each hood to provide proper coverage.

The existing fire protection system was modeled hydraulically starting at the existing water main in the street. Water flow test data was obtained from the local water authority as a basis for the design. The existing fire protection system was extended to serve the new canopy hoods. The revised system was then hydraulically modeled to verify adequate sprinkler coverage for the combined new and existing areas.

Drawings and calculations were submitted to the client’s insurer and town for review and permitting.
