Southern Connecticut State University, Natatorium Modifications

Loureiro was contracted by the State to design modifications and improvements to the University NCAA swimming pool. The design included structural repair of cracks around the pool along with the upgrade and modification to the existing mechanical and plumbing systems that serve the pool. The systems included a new plate and frame pool water return system, UV water treatment system, replacement of balancing tanks, review of all existing natatorium HVAC systems, and connection of all pool systems into existing building management system.

The project also included replacement of pool tile and waterproofing system along with the surface tiling around the pool. Loureiro’s engineers researched the code requirements for the existing bleacher system, which resulted in making necessary modifications to railing spacing and designing additional rails to meet code limiting locations. The project also included full Construction Administration services.
