Windham County, CT
Mass Electric, one of the nation’s premier electrical contractors, was constructing a 50 megawatt solar field in Windham County, CT with Kiewit Infrastructure Co. (KIC) when they realized they needed an additional level of civil engineering expertise — so they called Loureiro. With six months of work estimated and project to completion required in just three months, we accelerated the mobilization of resources and labor force without any hiccups along the way.
Within just a few days, LCI put together a pricing proposal, received approvals from KIC, expedited the resources needed for the job, and began digging. The work involved 42,500 LF of trenching and backfill throughout the farmland with trenches ranging from 13” to 203” wide, requiring multiple crushed stone foundations for medium voltage junction boxes, direct current junction boxes, and inverter pads before furnishing and bollard installation The LCI team was also tasked with localized excavation for fence grounding around the farmland.
Constant communication and coordination was vital to having both teams working completely in sync. While LCI was actively building the trenches, Mass Electric was close behind installing the necessary electrical components. Micromanagement of day-to-day activities helped ensure no detail was missed and all crew members remained safe while working at an accelerated pace.
Loureiro’s team met the expedited timeline, which exceeded client expectations.
