Loureiro worked with the Avon Free Public Library to assist with the renovation of a courtyard to address ongoing drainage problems as well as provide exterior event space. The on-going planning includes recommendations for a small performance area to be available for speakers, poetry readings, or music events requiring sound and lighting. The space will also support continuing education and club meetings. Incorporated into the proposed design are new gutters and downspouts leading to an under-drain system designed to intercept water infiltration near the building foundation.
Our design focused on providing a comfortable space to allow patrons to enjoy and to host small events. The layout is a simple multi-functional space with flexibility for multiple small groups or a single large event. Updated furniture, pavers, planters, and sculpture give new life to the space to create a more comfortable, welcoming, and functional space.
