Environmental Field Technician - Plainville, CT Office

Loureiro Engineering Associates has an immediate opening for an entry-level Environmental Field Technician for our Plainville, CT office.

This position is primarily field work with key responsibilities including: performing various environmental sampling activities to include operation of direct push drill rigs, installation of groundwater monitoring wells; soil and groundwater sampling; soil vapor sampling; data collection; operation and maintenance of remediation systems.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma;
  • 0-2 years’ experience in site investigation, remediation, construction or other outdoor fieldwork.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Prior field sampling with direct push drill rig is a plus;
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions;
  • Prior health and safety training and drilling experience;
  • Mechanically inclined and self-motivated with demonstrated reliability, maintain a strong work ethic, exhibit time management skills, be organized and detail oriented, and perform work accurately individually and in a team environment;
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout Connecticut and occasionally other New England States

Senior Structural Engineer - Plainville, CT Office

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to add to our team in our Plainville, CT office. Projects will include new design services for large multi-level building structures, smaller complex structural design for boutique-type buildings, alterations of existing buildings, peer reviews, demolition support for all types of structures, investigation of building envelope failures, specialty industrial applications, and litigation support services.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate structural design of engineering plans from preliminary through construction phases;
  • Serve as project engineer and as a designated client contact;
  • Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projects and meetings;
  • Prepare design computations both manually or computer generated.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering;
  • 4+ years’ of experience in the design of building structures including industrial, educational and commercial facilities. Design work would also include machine foundations, equipment platforms, equipment supports, truck docks, truss and roof structure analysis.
  • CT EIT or PE and prior consulting experience is a plus;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Experience with AutoCAD , Revit and RISA structural software a must;

Project Manager, Mechanical Engineer - Plainville, CT Office

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Project Manager- Mechanical Engineer for our Plainville, CT office. Enthusiastic and energetic, the successful candidate will ensure that clients’ needs are met with the highest quality contract documents and the most intelligent engineering solutions. The Project Manager is also responsible for providing leadership, management, and coordination of both project pursuits and developing staff.

The Mechanical Project Manager manages and oversees all aspects of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for building and infrastructure projects to ensure it is completed on-time and within budget. They will work to identify, initiate, develop, maintain and manage a portfolio of clients. Responsibilities include writing proposals, winning business, negotiating contracts/agreements with clients/subcontractors, setting and maintaining project budgets and overseeing projects. They are the main point of contact with clients and coordinates with team members and sub-consultants. They will utilize design skills when working with other Project Managers as they manage the internal teams for successful project completion.

Project Manager Responsibilities: 

Responsible for overall management of a project, including supervision and oversight, plan and report preparation, entitlements and permitting, preparation and monitoring of budgets and schedules, and maintaining positive client and staff relationships;

  • Provide technical reviews, develop quality assurance and quality control procedures for projects, demonstrate planning skills, design and construction schedule, and development of cost estimating and project budgets;
  • Mentoring and supervising technical staff;
  • Monitoring project budgets and schedules;
  • Technical report preparation;
  • Specification writing;
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates.

Business Development Responsibilities: 

  • Develop tactical action plans for project and or client pursuits;
  • Manage client/market development teams in the region to address client expectations and outcomes;
  • Identify top desired clients for the year; vet and establish regional client/market development teams;
  • Candidate shall have the demonstrated ability to develop new and maintain existing client relationships within the markets and regions we currently operate. The ideal candidate will have a client base consisting of municipal/public and private/commercial development clients.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 8 years’ of experience in mechanical systems design for industrial, educational and commercial facilities;

  • BSME degree from accredited college or university;

Project Manager, Environmental Engineering Division - Plainville, CT Office

Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. (LEA), an employee owned, full-service multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm located in Plainville, CT. has an immediate opening for a Project Manager in our Environmental Engineering Division. Projects will involve the performance of water usage audits and wastewater treatment evaluations, execution of wastewater treatability and pilot studies, reporting, process design and development of construction documents for industrial wastewater treatment and recycling systems, and construction oversight / commissioning of systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct, multi-disciplined projects in industrial wastewater;
  • Provide overall technical direction and quality review to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects;
  • Oversee the total project / construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule;

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Environmental / Chemical Engineering (MS preferred);
  • PE License or ability to obtain license within 1 year;
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state and local wastewater treatment regulations and permitting processes;
  • Prior consulting experience;
  • Experience with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD;

Land Survey Manager - Connecticut

Loureiro has an immediate opening for a Land Survey Manager in our Plainville, CT office. This position can reside in either Plainville, CT or Groton, CT office locations with occasional field work, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in business development, including pre-proposal contacts, proposal preparation and presentations, and client maintenance;
  • Evaluate regional market opportunities and plan expansion of survey services beyond Connecticut potentially into our satellite office(s);
  • Capability to perform work in AutoCAD for drafting for boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, existing conditions, construction surveys as well as all other types of surveys;
  • Continuously evaluate technology advancement and equip the team with the most cost-effective and accurate technologies;
  • Define and plan projects accurately within the budget and scope guidelines for all team members;
  • Build project teams, coordinate and monitor work involved with the projects including work between office staff, field survey personnel, and other required professionals;
  • Ensure accurate, thorough correct work and continuous communication with all staff members;
  • Provide weekly progress and status reports on project deliverables to management team;
  • Prepare and execute quality control reviews, safety and quality assurance procedures;

  • Responsible for administering surveying activities which include oversight of manpower, technical resources, and client communication for multiple projects;

Skills / Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in CT and ability to qualify for RI licensure, other surrounding states a plus;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related or technical field a plus;
  • Expertise in scanning, aerial drone, hydrone, robotic and GPS instrumentation;
  • A minimum of 10 years of survey experience;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Carlson Land Surveying software;
  • Construction surveying is a must;
  • Must possess excellent communication, diplomacy and listening skills; specifically, be accessible and responsive to the needs of clients;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and the most complex documents;
  • Ability to operate a computer, using technical software and other applications, spreadsheets, and other business software.

Senior Civil Engineer - Manchester, NH Office

  • Basic knowledge of civil site design and development permitting in NH and MA;
  • Research of information required for civil design efforts;
  • General familiarity in applying regulations and codes;
  • Strong Microsoft Office and AutoCAD skills and moderate Civil 3D experience including creating and editing surfaces, pipe networks, and profiles;
  • Confident grading, drainage, and profiling skills;
  • Understanding of stormwater runoff calculations using Rational or TR-55 methods;
  • Good working knowledge with HydroCAD or equivalent;
  • Read and understand engineering and survey drawings, maps, and details;
  • Able to perform initial stormwater management and treatment evaluations;
  • Basic experience with Low Impact Development Designs;
  • Preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs);
  • Growing data interpretation and technical report preparation skills;
  • Some experience with preparation of technical specifications and some experience with infrastructure construction oversight and contractor management;
  • Prior internship experience is a plus;
  • Structural Design experience is a plus.

Additional Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from accredited college or university;

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a self-motivated Associate / Seller-Doer who has a passion to grow a business, manage and mentor staff, and provides exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate would have established client relationships in the North Carolina and Mid-Atlantic U.S.

As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for leveraging Loureiro’ s existing relationships and resources and for successfully selling and consulting on a range of Remediation and Wastewater Environmental Compliance projects to build a sustainable business locally. This is an opportunity for a senior-level professional looking to advance their career.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business, including marketing to potential and existing clients and be integral in process of securing and managing clients and contracts to expand the North Carolina and Mid-Atlantic U.S. client base;
  • Acting as Project Manager on large, complex projects in fiscal management, client liaison, reporting requirements, and coordination with project team members;
  • Record, evaluate, and interpret data, prepare reports and work plans, and provide analysis and interpretations of findings to overseeing project delivery with a focus on scope/schedule/budget;
  • Review and stamp/certify technical reports submitted to agencies and clients;
  • Prepare environmental permits for air, water, and waste issues, including the implementation of remedial designs;
  • Manage technical work in accordance with the contracted scope of work, budget, schedule and legislative standards;
  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings;
  • Assist with development of junior staff through ongoing Demonstrate professional technical writing and verbal skills.

Requirements:

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (MS is preferred);
  • 12+ years of experience required environmental engineering consulting company
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer License is required;
  • Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems;
  • Demonstrated project management experience including budget and schedule monitoring and control responsibilities;
  • Experienced in client relations and business development;
  • Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Local client experience is required;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation;

Intern and Co-op

Our Co-Op/Internship program offers excellent opportunities during the academic school year and the summer for students to gain hands-on experience in a real work environment. Students will be involved in projects with responsibilities related to their area of study so that they can explore their interests and discover their true passion. Students will also develop new skills and industry knowledge by working with our experienced professionals.

We attend various college and university career fairs every year to find talented future professionals who are self-motivated, high achievers with leadership and problem-solving skills. We have hired a number of past Co-Ops/Interns as full-time employee-owners of our firm.
