Construction Project Engineer - Rhode Island

Loureiro Contractors, Inc. (LCI) is a Connecticut-based contractor with a broad range of experience in infrastructure development, environmental remediation and demolition. Our in-house capabilities include: site work; concrete construction; soil, groundwater and sediment remediation; roadways; bridges; earth retaining systems; underground utilities; and UST removal and replacement.

LCI has an immediate opening for a Construction Project Engineer for a large project in North Providence, RI. Projects will include a number of diverse site/concrete/remediation/building construction projects that will assist the project manager in all aspects/phases of the projects, both in the office and the field, including start-up, scheduling, submittals, quality control, project safety, cost control and ultimately, the total delivery of the project according to the established plans and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Estimators, Project Managers and Field Superintendents throughout all phases of projects, including performing quantity take-offs, soliciting quotes, scheduling, submittals, reviewing & coordinating subcontractor/material supplier quotes/subcontracts/PO’s, preparing project specific health & safety documents and assistance in coordination of self-performed work;
  • Attending job meetings;
  • Assisting  with a variety of reports, work plans, schedules, budgets;
  • Creating, setting up and maintaining project filing systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study;
  • Minimum of 5+ years of site/concrete/remediation/building construction project and/or civil engineering experience;
  • EIT required, PE License preferred;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills and leadership abilities;
  • Flexible, well organized, detail oriented and multi-tasking skills;
  • Familiarity with working in a union environment is a plus;

Heavy Highway Construction Project Superintendent - Rhode Island

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise subcontractors assigned to an area of responsibility; provide liaison between field engineering and subcontractors to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications;
  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications;
  • Prepare work schedule, determine manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and supervise completion of final punch list;
  • Site Health and Safety officer, Promote job site safety, encourages safe work practices;
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of subcontractors to ensure project compliance with specifications, procedures, quality, and safety requirements;
  • Conduct onsite meetings and distribute schedule updates and meeting minutes;
  • Complete daily reports;
  • Advise Project Managers of potential problems, work interference, and schedule difficulties; assist in resolving problems as required;
  • Conduct daily walkthrough of the project site(s) ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised;
  • Attends and participate in all preparatory and initial quality control phase meetings;
  • Produce a Daily Safety Report of activities performed;
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management;
  • Prior experience on working on Superfund sites is a plus;
  • Perform other duties as assigned;
  • Familiarity with working in a union environment is a plus.

 Requirements:

  • 5+ yrs. experience for a General Contractor with Heavy Highway Commercial & Industrial construction;
  • Be well versed in all construction methods;
  • High School Diploma or GED required;

  • Prior environmental or superfund experience is a plus;

Project Manager, Environmental Engineering Division - Plainville, CT Office

Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. (LEA), an employee owned, full-service multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm located in Plainville, CT. has an immediate opening for a Project Manager in our Environmental Engineering Division. Projects will involve the performance of water usage audits and wastewater treatment evaluations, execution of wastewater treatability and pilot studies, reporting, process design and development of construction documents for industrial wastewater treatment and recycling systems, and construction oversight / commissioning of systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct, multi-disciplined projects in industrial wastewater;
  • Provide overall technical direction and quality review to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects;
  • Oversee the total project / construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule;
  • Delegation of work to project teams and tracking progress of project deliverables;

  • PE License or ability to obtain license within 1 year;
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state and local wastewater treatment regulations and permitting processes;

Land Survey Manager - Connecticut

Loureiro has an immediate opening for a Land Survey Manager in our Plainville, CT office. This position can reside in either Plainville, CT or Groton, CT office locations with occasional field work, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in business development, including pre-proposal contacts, proposal preparation and presentations, and client maintenance;

  • A minimum of 10 years of survey experience;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Carlson Land Surveying software;
  • Construction surveying is a must;

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and the most complex documents;

Senior Civil Engineer - Manchester, NH Office

  • General familiarity in applying regulations and codes;
  • Strong Microsoft Office and AutoCAD skills and moderate Civil 3D experience including creating and editing surfaces, pipe networks, and profiles;
  • Confident grading, drainage, and profiling skills;
  • Understanding of stormwater runoff calculations using Rational or TR-55 methods;
  • Good working knowledge with HydroCAD or equivalent;
  • Read and understand engineering and survey drawings, maps, and details;
  • Able to perform initial stormwater management and treatment evaluations;
  • Basic experience with Low Impact Development Designs;
  • Preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs);
  • Growing data interpretation and technical report preparation skills;
  • Some experience with preparation of technical specifications and some experience with infrastructure construction oversight and contractor management;
  • Prior internship experience is a plus;
  • Structural Design experience is a plus.

Additional Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience;

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business, including marketing to potential and existing clients and be integral in process of securing and managing clients and contracts to expand the North Carolina and Mid-Atlantic U.S. client base;
  • Acting as Project Manager on large, complex projects in fiscal management, client liaison, reporting requirements, and coordination with project team members;
  • Record, evaluate, and interpret data, prepare reports and work plans, and provide analysis and interpretations of findings to overseeing project delivery with a focus on scope/schedule/budget;
  • Review and stamp/certify technical reports submitted to agencies and clients;
  • Prepare environmental permits for air, water, and waste issues, including the implementation of remedial designs;

Requirements:

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (MS is preferred);
  • 12+ years of experience required environmental engineering consulting company
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer License is required;
  • Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems;
  • Demonstrated project management experience including budget and schedule monitoring and control responsibilities;

  • Local client experience is required;

Intern and Co-op

Our Co-Op/Internship program offers excellent opportunities during the academic school year and the summer for students to gain hands-on experience in a real work environment. Students will be involved in projects with responsibilities related to their area of study so that they can explore their interests and discover their true passion. Students will also develop new skills and industry knowledge by working with our experienced professionals.

We attend various college and university career fairs every year to find talented future professionals who are self-motivated, high achievers with leadership and problem-solving skills. We have hired a number of past Co-Ops/Interns as full-time employee-owners of our firm.
