We Are Loureiro: Sean Beaudry

September 20th, 2023

“You never really know what your day is going to be like when you’re working on the railroad,” says Senior Project Manager Sean Beaudry.

For the past year, Sean has been making the drive from Connecticut to Boston representing Loureiro on a project servicing one of the biggest railroad companies in the country. Monday through Friday he pulls into the jobsite just before 6:00AM, starting the day with the flagmen by conducting a safety meeting with all parties on site. He then oversees water main construction and fire protection services. This is all familiar territory for Sean as he has the ability to pull from his prior experience working with Keolis and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

Sean’s professional journey started when he spent six years serving in the military working as a 63S Heavy Wheeled Mechanic where he maintained heavy equipment, vehicles, and assisted in bridge building and demolition. One day while working at an asphalt plant, Sean observed the EPA performing soil sampling and inquired with the representative as to why. When he was told they were testing for contamination, his interest was piqued, and he eventually pursued a degree in Environmental Earth Science from Eastern Connecticut State University. Upon graduation, Sean took on a job with a consulting company that introduced him to remediation and restoration of commercial, residential, and industrial properties. Since that time, he has managed two wastewater treatment plants, as well as provided oversight to biological and petroleum emergency response services. Sean even has experience with the development of a Geographic Information System (GIS).

“When I was initially hired as a Senior Project Manager at Loureiro, there wasn’t an exact position for me, but when Ryan Polizzo took over our division, he immediately began pulling me into new projects and new challenges that played to my strengths,” says Sean. “He soon approached me about managing the headcount in Industrial Services and I took the challenge. I enjoyed the dynamic of managing a diverse group of people while providing a superior product to our customers.”

Throughout his career, Sean has had a variety of titles attached to his name, including Geologist, Project Manager, EH&S Coordinator, Emergency Responder, and Senior Project Manager. Over his career, Sean realized that titles don’t define who we are. What’s important is the ability to have honest and transparent relationships with employees, subcontractors, and clients. Those relationships help develop unique solutions to complex challenges.

“I honestly think teamwork and collaboration leads to a better culture and better service for our clients,” says Sean. “I enjoy the team environment. I don’t need ‘credit’ or recognition. I try to give a team what they need in order to be successful. It’s also important that people feel comfortable about coming to me when they have a problem. Blame doesn’t matter.  I’m only interested in solutions and making sure we work together safely to delight the customer.”

In his spare time, you can often find Sean and his family at their seasonal campsite canoeing, fishing, and hiking with their dogs. He enjoys working on cars, helped his daughter raise chickens, and provides farm fresh eggs to his coworkers in the office.
